A Person’s Center - or the Engine - Replacing the Core

Replacing the engine and the fuel is real innovation. Boosting everything but the engine and fuel is simply improving the current quota.

There is a limit to improvements though. In the previous case it is time to change the engine and fuel towards innovation. Unlike a plane with a jet engine, a plane with an internal combustion engine can never break through the sound barrier & break the speed of sound.

No matter how many times you improve a horse carriage you can never expect the transportation to get any better or match the performance of engine driven cars. It goes same for an individual, it is difficult for a person’s core to change without replacing it with a engine and fuel.

Despite how many times an egoistic man changes or correct his/her habits, religion, or manners, it all starts and ends with ego. He/she will depend on their own ego and it is for their ego.

A man can be selfish and have desires of flesh, and he must kill the old life of Adam. If it is done by one, the egoistic life that was planted on the bottom will soon grow a new life and  replace its old egoistic self.

A person who can give up his/her life for love is a person that is ready for innovation.

From love to love for love one can change to his determinations, thoughts, actions, habits, lifestyle and the way of life to establish the Kingdom of Heaven.

What do we have to do in order to change our core and the Adam’s life?

The Bible and The Labourer’s Hand

I visited a Hutterite colony for the first time in the summer of 2008. This was after I had already visited an Amish community in the United States. The Amish town that I visited committed to a Community of Goods. This sort of execution can be called Partial Community. The Hutterites however, executed a Community of Goods and also pertained to the Full Community.  The Hutterites are the oldest group out of the Anabaptists. They were also the most persecuted and the most tormented out the Anabaptist groups. They also have had the most recent Martyr. Most recently (Early 20th Century) they had faced persecution and had to relocate to Canada.

Because of this prior knowledge, I was quite nervous before getting to meet them. According the information I had and from what I was informed, the Hutterites were very radical and an extreme group of people. But fortunately, they were quite easy to get along with and as I was staying with them, I could feel what the real communion described in John was like. They were really beautiful people.

It was late into the evening when I got down with the First Minister (he could be called as the pastor, but a 1st minister's job description is different compared to the modern church). Since he was quite busy with the fields, he was responsible for vegetable fields and as a result  he was the busiest during the summer. Only after he was done that I got around to speaking with him about the Bible.

While we were deep into our conversation about obeying Christ, he had brought out a very old Bible from his room and placed it on top of the table. I was quite taken by how his rough farmer hands had held the old Bible. It was as if I could see the sufferings of his forefathers through the old handed down Bible, and his labored hands were showing their proof of complete obedience to their faith.

His hard labored hands were the hands that upheld his faith! It painted a beautiful picture.

That was when I questioned myself. What did I come here to see? Was it to see people in fine clothing? People holding their bibles with soft and pretty hands? Or well educated people who bury themselves in their elegance and urban middle class?

Matthew 11:8

But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

Matthew 11:9

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.

Those who follow and heed to Gospel are all beautiful. The hands of those who live through rough labour for Kingdom of God and discipleship are all dazzling and fascinating to me. Showing such faith and obedience to the Gospel.

Isaiah 52:7

How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

What’s being told here is that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In other words, it is in God's reign and only those take God’s reign fully in their life are able to live there. That this is the Kingdom of God. And this Kingdom should be expanded all across.

The Fight To Put Up The Cross, Babylon and the Kingdom Of God

Individualists and egoist only look for their rest and comfort when they view the cross. This is because their priority interest only lies with blessings in their current life, their personal salvation and happiness, and eternal life.

However, as a citizen of the Kingdom of God, one must accept the responsibilities through the cross of self sacrifice and willingly submit to God, and to stand before the cross to make the corrupted world submit to God’s order.

Essentially, institutional Christianity complacent about their reality. They instinctively distinguish the spiritual and worldly realms. They wish and seek comfort from the reality instead of self sacrifice. They do not understand the pain of Christ when he is seeing the corrupted world. For them they are completely comfortable with their reality of a corrupted world. They do not feel the need nor wish to change the current world and remain complacent. They are easily controlled by the world.

Community churches believe that the Kingdom of God is dynamic. hey are those who believe that God’s will should be done on earth as it is in heaven. God did not abandon those who were lost in the world but sent His only Son, Jesus Christ for them. God had intervened and Christ had come to the world - as a result becoming impossible to separate the world from heaven.. According to the order of heaven, Kingdom of God already had come down to the world.

To this end, God will call those who are ready to follow Christ, including their life. Moses threw away his name as a prince for God’s Kingdom and believed in it til the end. Since the coming of Christ, many disciples threw away everything they had and carried their cross for the coming of Kingdom of God's. [Hebrews 11:38]

However the world is not a suitable living place for these people. This is why they do not go to court, live in expensive homes, or partake in national violence. They will sometimes go out to the wilderness to pray like John the Baptist had. [Matthew 11:7 ~ Matthew 11:9] They went to the wilderness to be separated from the world like the Essene's did during John The Baptist's time and the prophets before him. Their vibrant and enthusiastic faith had brought them out to the wilds and away from the world.

The Basis That Allowed Money To Rule

Every system has an underlying human foundation to it. The reason why the agriculture and the restaurant business is possible because people will always grow hungry. The art and design business is possible because people have strong desires for beauty.

Why is capital ruling this era? This is derived from the universal love for money. In a recent survey, it was revealed that people would throw away their families for just 1 million dollars. The simple survey clearly illustrates that capital and money have been ruling the modern age.

On the other hand, it is also true that because capitalistic living has taken root, people have grown to love money more than before.

At first, it was only the minority that showed unparalleled compassion towards money due to their wealth. But when they formed cities together, their power grew, and the people's dependency on them increased, which made the general populous flock to the city. Once a person is taken into the capitalistic system, most will get dominated by it. In turn, allowing their own love for money grow.

Money gives people the power to control and dominate over others. A small number of sick souls who recognize the power start a pathological pursuit of money in order to obtain that influence. Eventually they will accumulate capital, dominate the market, and monopolize in all profit. And to maximize their own profit they will paralyze the healthy market system and start their reign over it.

It is painful to be ruled over by somebody that’s not God, resulting in many people attempting to avoid being ruled by them - forcing these people to money. However this gives an opportunity to create more profits for the handful who already control the market and allows them to take control of the public’s desire. The majority will become a slave to their debt and money.

Those handful of people who are above this system wish to rule those not with the freedom and free will through the means of debts and money.

People should not accumulate money for oneself and their own salvation. Our first priority should be follow the path that God had given. Even so there won’t be many people who are faithful to the truth. They are people who have failed to jump the hurdle of the present age.

Would people only understand the value and depth of community after facing the domination of money? Maybe the experience of the prodigal son to suffer under the rule of money may be needed for the majority. Then they will be able to see and understand the love of the Father.

The Kingdom of God is only for the returning prodigal son and not for those who are addicted and still drunk off money. Only the people that understand (돈독을) and know that their dying because of it, will be ready for the Kingdom of the God.

The story in Samuel Chapter 8 speaks this truth. The reason people accepted the order of the Kings is also the same.

In Samuel Chapter 8, the people willingly give up their freedom. They give up their independence identity, and they readily took the road of slavery. They voluntarily gave the power to a king and wished to have dependence on him.

[Samuel 8:20] Because of wishing to rule and reign with money, they themselves become a slave to the money. People had liked to be wealthy slave rather than a poor free man.

People would need to throw away any of their proud thoughts to be able to wake up from their illusion with money.

The Era of Borderline Sociopaths

There is increasing evidence that the amount of sociopaths have been in rise in the recent age. The sociopath is said to be more dangerous than the psychopaths. Unlike psychopaths, sociopaths are the result of the social environment. This in turn could mean that this society is great at making sociopaths.

This also means that there are an abundance of people who are at the borderline of being sociopaths. This is the era of no empathy

Despite the clear evidence of this, people will not change their lifestyle. Even when they know that their wasteful luxury will jeopardize not only the future of the lower class but of their own children. There is no empathy in this era, and the people with no empathy are ruling.

Wouldn’t our children later call this age an era of sociopaths? Only those who came from a kinship community like the boy from South Sudan would be able to tell the pathological state we are in. This is because all of us are infected with the same illness. In other words, we live in cities where we are indifferent to the pain and joy in the life of our neighbors. And this is socially acceptable. We are unable to see our own disease.

Following the Jesus-Way in lifestyle

(I visited an Amish Village in Lancaster when I was residing in Pennsylvania. The picture was taken at the Anabaptist visiting center there.)

The Hutterites, Amish, and the Old Order Mennonites are quite different from the Modern Mennonites. They did not create schools about their belief nor did they try to interact with the outside world at an extensive rate. As such, it became difficult for me to study how they achieved a ‘Full Community’ without meeting them in person. I started to visit and to get to know these folks better through this travels.

In addition, I was able to listen to some Modern Mennonites as well who were willing to reveal their history and roots. And through it was clearer to see the Hutterites inner attitude in their communist like community. One of those characteristics can be portrayed here in the picture.

But whatever the case, be it the Hutterites, Mennonites, or the Amish, the Anabaptist wished to follow and serve Jesus Christ not in the way of a doctrine and religious consciousness, but rather through their life style and their way of being. Based on the interest and commitment to the Kingdom of God.

Lead to Community of Goods

Hutterites have gone beyond the temptations of ownership and desires of flourishing. For nearly 500 years they have shared the gospel of love and proceeded the Community of Goods. They have made a community for not only to oneself but a life committed to one another.

As an example, a healthy family do not require to distinguish belongings from each other on who owns what. Like this, for they are Jesus’ brothers and sisters, it becomes possible to give up what you own for your family.

Since these brothers & sisters exist in a new society, a human society will not only re-appear but keep it going. This is the way of a disciple and it is the way to learn and follow. As a result, a Christian communist society in another word, Community of Goods will be created.

The ones who are overwhelmed by the fear for the survival are the ones that don't get eaten. Through its own death they win their death and find the way of Jesus Christ. Those people who chose love will be the ones to enter the gate of heaven.

To become a disciple of Christ, one must carry the cross and catch up with Him. He will have to forget and cease self concerns and care. Above anything else abandon the desire of life, possession, and thriving. This is the so called giving up your personal asset.

Different Christians and Anabaptist groups have failed to succeed in a communal society because many cannot forgo their desires for success. Everyday they fail to carry the cross that was granted to them.

A man with no love yet with the desire of life be the seed to catastrophe. To destroy the life for oneself, one must kill his ego and by fulfilling love to friends and families, he will give up his life of desire and thriving.[ John 15:13 ] Through that achievement he will become the disciple of Jesus, and within the crowd of those people their relationships will grow into a Christian communist society.

If there is true Gelassenheit they do not waiver to desires. To truly abandon desire is to forgo personal assets. This in leads to a joint owned community, which results to a communistic society. Community does not lead to a communist society by ideology or knowledge, but through their own death of love and devotion they can create the Community of Goods.

Why did atheistic communism fail? It couldn't give up the desire of possession and thriving? Or rather is it because of communist society use the strength of desires and thriving, and through the victory of of it people fell into self-contradiction.

The Fear of Inner Abrasiveness

The Strong and the Weak(Paul Tournier) PG.94

[1] In our daily lives, general selfish desires have taken a deep root into our lifestyle. This is because we do not how to live a prosperous  life. Many believe that in order for us to live, it would require an individual to step on top of the other. This is why we are afraid of ourselves. For those who do not know love, desire would be their own disaster.

[2] If the heart wants more than what it needs, then that would be pride and desire. This is where Satan had fallen, and this is where Adam had also failed in comparison to God. Cain had killed his brother, Abel, because of his desire and dream. In the traditional Korean tale, the mother also becomes a tiger due to the pressures of reality.

[3] For reasons like these,  people tend to instinctively think that the rich are evil.

As the Gentile Nation

Eventually in most things, people are the core problem.  Things that were working well till the time of Samuel all stopped once he had left. Even the system and establishments by God will fail to work if the people within are not ready. If the people are not ready then no institution nor policy will work properly.

When push comes to shove, it becomes possible to  discern the difference in the quality of an organization. Monarchy or other similar styles of centralized government or economic systems will lead to a breakdown of the community life and widen the gap between classes to the extremes. In addition, once this kind of governing becomes the norm it is near impossible to reverse the change.

Mankind turned away from the path that was given to them by God and did not repent their evil ways. Instead looked for excuses to reject the way that was provided to them. When they did reject them, they looked to follow the ways of a king and laws of the Gentile nation.

These men rejected God’s ways. The ones in power & the elders were those in the forefront to deny such methods. Following the commandments found in 1 Samuel 8:4 was most likely too hard for these men.(The big should serve the small.)  [1 Samuel 8:4]

Eventually, man abandoned the governance of God. They had wished for a system where they could easily satisfy their greed and ego.

Why Do Only Few Choose To Follow The Way Of The Christ?

The majority of people cannot be expected to go through the path of self-denial and selflessness. Such lifestyle results may lead to a sinless and faultless kingdom. Unfortunately, the majority will never follow this method of self-denial or carry their own cross. In fact, those same people would bend the rules of God to accept and mingle with those who deny the way of Christ. This would be no longer the Kingdom of God.

For the kingdom of God there cannot be any compromises of its principles. However, if these principles and rules are not compromised, only a few would choose to follow them. To make these rules bend for the majority, the basis of self-sacrifice would have to be given up. In the end, foregoing the law of self-sacrifice would no longer result in the Kingdom of God.

As following, God's Kingdom is a kingdom for only the select few who are able to follow this path of Christ. The rest of the majority would not be able to follow nor recognize the narrow road, this is the grim reality that Christ had seen. Doing the work of God's kingdom means that to follow the way of the minority. This, is as Jesus had stated, id a narrow path that only a few can choose to follow.

Those who cannot give up being apart of the majority, wouldn't they also fail to get into God's Kingdom?
